Refurbishment Sash Window Cheshire

Refurbishment of Sash Windows

If your timber windows are painted shut, draughty, rattling or single glazed and you would like to add double glazing we can offer a high performance timber window renovation. Our skilled sash specialists can carefully restore your original timber sash windows, preserving their beauty and heritage while ensuring smooth operation with improved insulation.

The benefits of restoration:

Sash window restoration involves repairing and refurbishing existing sash windows rather than replacing them entirely. It helps to maintain the historical integrity of a building, preserves craftsmanship, and can be more cost-effective and environmentally friendly compared to the replacement option.

The process of restoration:

We remove and discard old staff beads, parting beads and sash cords, we then remove the excess paint build-up on the frame and sashes, this can sometimes be hundreds of years worth of lead paint.

The new or original sashes are then fitted with new pile carriers to draft proof the meeting rails.

Lead weights are adjusted to suit any alterations made and balance the sashes. We can also use springs instead of lead weights as a more cost-effective option.

Any bare wood will be primed with a quick drying acrylic ready for decoration. We offer a decoration service at an additional cost.

We then rehang the sashes back into the box ensuring a smooth operation.

Finally, we fit the new parting beads and new staff beads with your new complete draft proof system.

Please note: Renovated sash windows will still have some natural, archaic imperfections based on the original timber and its age. Not all timber windows can be restored. Restoration will solely depend on the stability of the original timber.
